This year's race started on Saturday 1 April in Linderudkollen; unfortunately postponed for a week due to the wrath of the weather gods with variations in high pressure and low pressure around the race weekend. This unfortunately meant that more than half of the starting field chose to prioritize the cabin and family over the race in Linderudkollen; but there were well over 20 people at the start on this sunny day - the first Saturday of the Easter holidays.
The race management set up from 05:00 in Linderudkollen, well before the official race start at 05:30. It was a nervous group that had lined up at the starting line in an almost ceremonial session there in the dark. The torches were lit, the DAB song was playing in the stadium, and the long zone was filled with the most wonderful food from our race sponsors. What an atmosphere.
It was sparkling weather in Linderudkollen this day; the prep team had made an absolutely wild effort and the tracks were covered most of the day.
Today's smorgasbord and greaser put up everything that the greaser's stall could offer and ensured that everyone could enjoy the most wonderful slide beyond the morning hours. There were large temperature variations this morning; and during the race the temperature probably varied by 10-12 degrees with the coldest just before the sun rose in the 07 race.
A great race with both young and more experienced participants at the starting line meant that there was a good spread in both speed, field and result list, but there was nothing to say about the efforts of all. 100K is damn far on skis.
