THE BREADFUL MILE 2023


Friday, September 22nd will go down in history as the biggest event for DAB Ultra Skaters to date - and what a day it was. It looked gloomy for a long time - dark clouds had emptied over Oslo's segments over the past week, and on Friday morning there was no intake. It looked unsafe for the ordered California weather; but PG (Pimpguden) must have spoken to VG (Værguden) by lunchtime, because at 4 pm it was brilliant sunshine, calm wind and 18 degrees. What a setting for the world's first Breiale Mil, and the world's first race with a nose breathing class!

A 14.50 km (9.00 mi) long race is a tribute to the Nesodden zip code, immortalized by Oral Bee, and the race also served as a prelude to the Da Playboy Foundation concert at Rockefeller. DJ Shrimp Shady played a steady mix of West Coast bangers and East Coast classics, creating such a good atmosphere that Tschawe danced like Tschawe!

100 registered runners, an optimal location, good weather and steady partners set the framework for what would turn out to be a wonderful race on the finest Strava segments within Ring 3 in Oslo.

There was a tough fight for the podium places in the three classes in which the race was held; and big congratulations to everyone!

DAB Ultra Skaters acknowledges that we made a couple of charming slip-ups in the secretariat this afternoon, so unfortunately there were two people who were called up by mistake. We will correct that next time, word of honor!
